You have seen the answer sites. A photo of the problem, a finished answer, nothing learned. Nerdly is built to be the opposite: a tutor that shows every step and says why, that finds the first wrong step in your child’s own work and hands it back, and that quizzes them the night before a test. It is good at this, and it is built to stop short of doing the work for them.
What it does
- Explains a problem step by step at your child’s level, and ends with a check they can do alone.
- Checks their work by pointing at the first wrong step and the rule it broke, then stopping, so they finish it themselves.
- Quizzes them on a chapter, one question at a time, and tells them what to review.
- Gives feedback on an essay draft the way a strict teacher would, without rewriting it.
What it refuses
Writing the essay. Finishing the problem in Check my work mode. Anything sexual, violent, or that sexualizes a minor. Anything illegal. The honor code is one page and is written for students to read.
What it keeps
Questions and answers are not stored on our side; they pass through to the model and back. We keep an email address for an account, one usage record per question, and payment records. Chats stay in the browser on your child’s device. No advertising, nothing sold. The privacy page lists every company that touches the data.
What it costs
Free to try, with no account and no card: 5 questions a day. A plan is paid for a month or a year and never renews on its own, so there is no subscription to remember to cancel. The pricing page has the plans; the refund policy is short.
Try it yourself
Pick one of the questions below. Five minutes with it tells you more than this page.
